Not every person needs the same Will or registration route. The assessment identifies the likely next step without asking you to choose the legal pathway yourself.
01
A parent of minor children
Guardianship is the decision most people are actually here for. Where the selected Will route permits it, you can record who you would want to care for your children and who should act if that person cannot.
A nomination records your wishes. It does not remove the rights of the other parent, and the competent court decides.
02
Part of a blended family or a previous marriage
Children from different relationships, a former spouse, and a current partner can produce an outcome nobody intended. A Will states who receives what, in your own words.
Bring any existing Will and any family, matrimonial or separation agreement to the review.
03
A UAE property owner, account holder or investor
Property, bank accounts, brokerage accounts and end-of-service entitlements may each be treated differently depending on the route and the authority.
Asset type and location affect which framework is appropriate.
04
Supporting an unmarried partner, stepchild, relative or charity
A person or organisation you support informally may have no automatic entitlement. Naming them is the only way the intention is recorded.
Some routes limit who may benefit; the review confirms what is possible.
05
A business owner or shareholder
A shareholding may be governed by a shareholders' agreement or the company's own constitution as well as by your Will.
The two documents are read together, which is why the review asks for both.
06
Holding assets or an existing Will in more than one country
One document does not operate automatically in every country. A UAE Will can sit alongside a foreign Will, but the two need to be coordinated rather than assumed to agree.
Where a foreign Will exists, the review considers whether anything needs revoking or amending.
07
A married couple preparing coordinated but separate Wills
A couple does not share one Will. Each person gives their own instructions and personally approves their own document, even when the two are prepared together.
Each Will is a separate document and a separate authority registration.
08
A non-resident who owns UAE assets
You do not need a UAE residence visa to hold UAE assets, and you do not necessarily need one to use every route. What applies depends on the authority's current requirements.
Residency affects the route analysis but does not by itself decide it.
